Wine And Cheese Weekend--May 3, 4 & 5

It's Official!  Spring is really here!  How do I know?  The porch chairs are out!  And what is another sign?  It's time for Wine and Cheese Weekend at the Wineries.  I always find it hard to choose, what goes better with wine---cheese or chocolate?  We had chocolate in February, and in May it's always cheese!
Now I have to admit that I love chocolate, but the weather in May is a bit more conducive to driving around to all the twenty three wineries (yes, twenty three...plan on as many days as possible, event starts Friday afternoon).  There will be food and wine at each of the wineries, and your ticket gets you all the recipes, a wine glass, and a special gift (no, I don't know what it is).

The last several events were sold out...so be advised you MUST purchase a ticket in advance.  Information and a link to buy tickets ($39 per person) is available at the Lake Erie Wine Country website (www.lakeeriewinecountry.org).

Wine and Art this Saturday!

Finally the warm weather has arrived, and with it a fun event at the wineries this Saturday!  From 10am to 4pm, enjoy Wine and Art at our local wineries.  The North East Arts Council, (www.northeastarts.org) and Lake Erie Wine Country (www.lakeeriewinecountry.org) are pairing artists with local wineries.

This is a FREE event (wine tasting extra, of course) but it should be nice weather to drive around and check out all of our local talent!

Witch hazel in bloom at Grape Arbor B&B

Finally winter is over and the flowers are beginning to bloom!  Many guests are asking if the yellow flowering bush in the back of the building is forsythia, but it is not...it is witch hazel, and starts blooming anytime from January through March.  This year it started blooming in February and is still in flower and very fragrant now in April!

Last Friday, North East celebrated its first "First Friday" in downtown.  The sidewalks of the downtown were filled with pedestrians, sidewalk sales, artists and musical performances for three hours, from 5pm to 8pm.  Although is was a little cool (temperatures in the 40's, but sunny) it was great to see everyone out and about after a long, and confusing winter!

Next month should be even more fun--Friday, May 3rd at the same time!  Join us!
